Now, if I said this bird is an Eastern Meadowlark, you might ask,
how can I tell it's an Eastern Meadowlark.
This is another good reason to photograph the birds up close.
You see those pure all white tail feathers?
If it had been a Western the tail feathers would have been bared and and dark around the edges.
