Photographed at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon August 20, 2005

While walking east along the rim walkway by the El Tovar Lodge
a flock of Evening Grosbeaks flew over and perched in a tree just a few feet over the rim wall.

As I would walked to the tree where they were they would all fly to the next tree.
So, I hurried and got a few trees ahead of them and sure enough they caught up to where I was waiting for them.

I believe this a female Evening Grosbeak.

I really had to get these photos in a hurry because they did not perch long plus they constantly moving from branch to branch.
